From construction to anticipation.

Quay Property Management was selected to partner with the City of North Vancouver to create a unique public space for the community. The question was, how do you get people excited about a new development project they can’t yet enjoy? We celebrated the community itself and gave everyone something to appreciate along the way.

A place for community and celebration.

The Shipyards in the City of North Vancouver — a vibrant, interactive public space, offering year-round activities — is the last phase of a redevelopment program on the Lower Lonsdale waterfront. To help launch this new development, we were tasked with creating the brand platform, brand identity, hoarding design and print materials. The new brand essence mixed imagination and emotion, leveraging the site’s rich history. We wanted to give passersby a colourful glimpse of what’s to come.

A mixture of historical images sourced from the North Shore Museum and Archives, along with lifestyle photography, and building renders from project architect, Dialog, were given a treatment inspired by maritime signal flags.

We crafted a three-part story to communicate the inspiration behind the project, to honour those who worked in the shipyards, and to provide the public with an idea of how the spirit of the area would live on.

Inspired by structures found in the shipyards, the iconic S will be featured throughout the building and wayfinding.
